Glendale third-grade teacher showed gay pride videos. A year later, furious debate erupts

A Glendale third-grade teacher, who nearly a year ago showed videos celebrating gay pride to her students, has been involuntarily transferred from her classroom for safety reasons after receiving threats.

The conflict in the Glendale Unified School District is part of a broader national debate over what should be taught in schools about gender identity. In California, the law does not require advanc

.Here is the detailed list that was created by Ukrainian volunteers

 🖖Honorable Rep. Gibbs, Bob

My name is Timothy mark Morrison, and I am a community member who resides and works in your district.

I support Ukraine in its struggle against the Russian invasion. I want to ask you to do everything in your power to help Ukraine win the war that mass-murderer Putin has started. Ukraine needs heavy weapons, heavy artillery, heavy armor, air defense systems, and attack aircraft!

, entrepreneurs and military experts: https://saveualist.com/.

Ukrainians have demonstrated incredible resolve and will to fight evil that is the Russian army. I believe that the United States must play a decisive role in stopping the atrocities committed in Ukraine.

Despite the actions taken so far by the Biden Administration to help the Ukrainian military (which I am grateful for), I strongly believe that we are NOT doing enough! President Zelenskyy has stated that more than 20 000 civilians have been killed in Mariupol - why did we let that happen? Why does it take so long to send a sizable military aid to the Ukrainian forces so that they could finally put a stop to this bloodshed?

Kids were raped in Bucha, for goodness sake - what else must Putin do so that we would say “Enough!”. I urge you to act. Putin is absolute evil and he must be stopped NOW!

Empowering Ukrainians to defend their homeland is morally and pragmatically the right thing to do.

I ask you to sign a letter that your colleagues in Congress have already sent to the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, urging him to increase military aid to Ukraine ( https://crow.house.gov/media/press-releases/reps-crow-kim-meijer-make-bipartisan-push-more-military-aid-ukraine )

Please, #ArmUkraineNOW!

Sincerely, Timothy mark Morrison

Democrats lash out at SCOTUS ruling that would overturn Roe v. Wade

Good afternoon! It's Wednesday, May 4, and today's headlines include top Democrats' responses to the leaked draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, Liberty University facing federal investigation by the Department of Education, and actress Danica McKellar sharing her faith story.
Top Democrats in Washington have reacted with contempt in the wake of Politico publishing a story unveiling the contents of a draft opinion in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that would overturn Roe v. Wade. President Joe Biden issued a statement Tuesday calling for voters "to elect pro-choice officials this November" should the Court overturn Roe, asserting, "At the federal level, we will need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law." Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., issued a joint statement Monday evening warning: "If the report is accurate, the Supreme Court is poised to inflict the greatest restriction of rights in the past fifty years—not just on women but on behalf of all Americans." Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass, took to Twitter to call for drastic action to "stop this horrifying injustice in this tracks," which included a demand to "Expand the Supreme Court." Warren also expressed a desire to "end the filibuster" and "codify #RoevWade with a national law protecting rights."
Despite the idea of adding justices to the Supreme Court gaining traction among many on the Left, the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg asserted during a 2019 interview with NPR that "Nine seems to be a good number." In a statement released by the Supreme Court on Tuesday verifying the authenticity of the draft opinion of Roe v. Wade, the court said it does not reflect a final ruling. Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. said whoever released the draft committed a "betrayal" and called for an investigation into the leak. Continue reading.

Mental Health Awareness Month

United States has been observing Mental Health Awareness during the month of May since 1949. Each year, businesses, organizations, schools and individuals dedicate this month to acknowledge those effected by mental illness and present innovative ideas, events and programs that support the treatment and prevention of mental illness.

Many individuals that suffer from mental health symptoms have found that creating art can be used as a therapy and have very positive effects on their condition. A regular practice of creating art can be nurturing for relieving stress, increasing confidence and supporting general mental health wellness in all of us, not just those that struggle. The Zentangle Method is a simple and powerful way to access creativity. The Zentangle Method opens doorways to our creative abilities and the artist within each of us. Using simple steps and basic strokes, anyone can create beautiful images using the Zentangle Method.

This May we will be honoring Mental Health Awareness month through a series of blogs, newsletters, and videos. We will explore the ways in which our own Zentangle practice plays a role in our own mental health and well being. Whether it is the act of creating art or embracing the philosophies behind the method, the Zentangle Method is a powerful tool to have in our toolbox. In spring of 2020, Julie shared a blog, My Zentangle Tool Box. We thought this message is just as important today as it was just a few years ago. Join us as we look back on these thoughts and ideas and (hint) we may be giving away a new Zentangle MantraBand!
To further kick off this month, we are going back to last May (2021) and Zentangle Project Pack No. 14. This project pack was designed to highlight the importance of art and creativity in mental health and wellness. In this series, we share the Zentangle Method as an option for accessing the artist within. If you tangled along with us the first time around, we invite you to join us again and perhaps use our ideas and lessons as seeds of inspiration for new ideas. If this is your first exploration of this project pack, we can’t wait to see what you create.
You can watch all of the Zentangle Project Pack No. 14 videos for free here. You can purchase PP14 materials here or follow along with whatever you have at home!

We are looking forward to the stories we will share and conversations that we will have over the next few weeks.

Thank you all for joining us!

to all the pro-choicers

this is to all the "pro-choicers" out there: what about our rights? aren't we human, too? we should have the right to not have to see abortion ads. we should have the right to not have abortion advertised in biology books. we need that right. think about that.

On Monday, news leaked that the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe — which has protected women's rights for nearly 50 years.
