Dear MoveOn member,

 Dear MoveOn member,

Donald Trump takes credit for and often brags about overturning Roe v. Wade. He said with glee last year, "I was able to kill Roe v. Wade."1 He even publicly thanked the justices who ended the legal right to abortion across the country.2

And yesterday, the Trump-packed Supreme Court appeared poised to go even further, allowing hospitals in states with abortion bans to deny an emergency abortion to a pregnant person in a medical crisis.3

Meanwhile, deadly and extreme abortion bans are on the rise in states across America. In Arizona, Republican officials just resurrected an absolute abortion ban from 1864—during the the Civil War—and 56 years before women had the right to vote. It hasn't been enforced in 160 years. But now, thanks to Trump's role in ending federal protections for abortion rights, it could be, starting on June 8.4

Trump did this to America. And the best way to fight back against this outrage is through the 2024 election. Many voters already recognize this. In fact, 1 in 8 voters of all ages say that abortion is the most important issue to them.5 These voters are "disproportionately made up of Black voters, Democratic voters, women voters, and the youngest voting bloc—voters ages 18 to 29."6

But there's a big problem: So far, young people are less committed to voting this time around than they were before the 2020 election.7 And the decline is pronounced among Black voters and women—the same voters who prioritize recent attacks on reproductive rights when deciding which candidates to vote for.8

Given that the election is expected to be close and come down to small numbers of voters in key battleground states, if MoveOn volunteers can influence even a small percentage of voters who weren't planning to turn out, their votes could be decisive.

We know that our highly effective get-out-the-vote strategies work. An analysis showed that, in 2022, one strategy—called "vote tripling"—helped to turn out 50,000 people in key states and districts who otherwise might not have voted.

But young voters need more outreach this year than they needed in 2020 or 2022. We also need to sign up new, young voters, including those who are just out of high school, to help convince others their age to head to the polls.

To raise awareness about the importance of volunteering and reaching out to swing-state voters about abortion rights, we're preparing to launch a tour bus—modeled off of our very successful Banned Bookmobile last year—that will go to key congressional districts and states, sign up new election volunteers, and give them the tools to contact young voters, voters of color, and others who will decide this election.

We need to raise $130,000 to launch our pilot program and hit the road. Will you start a $5 monthly donation to help fund our bus to sign up election volunteers and to power our efforts to defeat MAGA from now until Election Day?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Mobile efforts like these have a track record of making a splash—and raising awareness.

Last year, our Banned Bookmobile, full of books that the far right banned, toured key cities and towns to raise the visibility of book bans, hand out banned books for free, and bring people together to stop censorship.

Now, MoveOn is giving our Banned Bookmobile concept a facelift—this time, primarily focusing on signing up new election volunteers, while also spreading the message about the importance of voting in the 2024 election at a time when so many Americans have already lost the ability to control their own bodies and, therefore, their own lives.

We need your help to raise $130,000 to launch our pilot program. With your help, we'll go on the road—handing out T-shirts, water bottles, stickers, and other merchandise, signing up new election volunteers en masse, and educating people about the stakes for reproductive freedom in this election.

Will you start a $5 monthly donation to help fund our bus to raise awareness, sign up new election volunteers, and ensure we elect champions of reproductive freedom up and down the ballot?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

We can contact enough young voters to win the election only if we start early—and sign up more volunteers, particularly young people. That's why your help today is so crucial.

Thanks for all you do.

–Mohammad, Alexis, David, Evelyn, and the rest of the team

P.S. Your donation will help test this program, so we can roll it out at scale later this summer. We need to raise $130,000 now to help ...

  • cover rental charges for our tour bus,
  • buy gas,
  • print the postcards that volunteers will write at the van to send to swing-state voters,
  • help buy stickers, magnets, pens, and other things to hand out to volunteers and other visitors,
  • help wrap the vehicle in an abortion-rights-focused design so people know what we're about when we pull up,
  • and more.

Starting early will help us sign up more volunteers, work out the kinks, and get ready to turbocharge our election volunteer and get-out-the vote programs in the summer. We need your help to get going with our pilot now. Are you in?

Will you start a $5 monthly donation to help fund our bus to raise awareness and sign up new election volunteers?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Want to support MoveOn's work? The MAGA movement's book bans have forced teachers and librarians across the country to remove books from their shelves and censor what young people can learn. MoveOn is fighting back, including by filling a "Banned Bookmobile" with books that the far right has banned and driving it to key cities and towns to raise the visibility of book bans, hand out banned books for free, and bring people together to stop censorship. To keep up the fight against book bans and the MAGA politicians who support them, we need your help.

Dear MoveOn member,

 Dear MoveOn member,

I'm Rahna Epting, MoveOn's executive director. I've been here for over three years, and I rarely write to you with a request. But today, I need to.

And the request is big, so please hear me out.

I realize that in every election cycle, political leaders say, "This is the most important election of our lifetime." I am not going to say that. But I am going to say, if we don't get 2022 right, 2024 may become the most dangerous election of our lifetime.

Because, if we lose this November, Donald Trump will have in place what he needs to launch a full-scale attack on our democracy. From secretary of state races to the U.S. Senate, Trump and his allies are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to ensure they have the election deniers they need, where they need them, to put him back in the White House in 2024. By vote … or by coup.

And here's where the request comes in: I need you to help us raise a million dollars this month. Yes—a million dollars by the end of October.

Wait, don't get discouraged or think it's impossible! MoveOn is a community many millions strong. If just 1% of us donate $10, we'll hit the goal!

Just 1% of us at $3 a week. I believe we can do it together. I KNOW we can.

So, will you help us raise $1 million by the end of October? Will you give $3 to help us beat back Trump in 2022, so we can make sure that 2024 is not the most dangerous election of our lifetime?

And when I say I believe we can do this together ... that I know we can do this together ... I say that because I have seen our power in action.

From mobilizing voters in 2018 and 2020 to stop Trump in his tracks. From helping end the war in Iraq by electing Democrats who would stand up to George W. Bush. From electing Barack Obama to helping him pass the Affordable Care Act which provided health care to millions of Black, brown, LGBTQ+, and low-income Americans, we—you—have climbed mountains much bigger than a million dollars.

But this is the mountain we must climb today. And we can climb it only if we climb it together.

We don't have corporate backers writing million-dollar checks. We don't have dark-money PACs willing to funnel seven-figure sums our way (nor would we want them).

We have us. Millions of us. And I am asking because this is the wrong time to come up short.

I need you to dig deep today and make a donation of any size. Give at a level that feels good and that feels impactful. A level that helps us make sure 2022 does not lay the groundwork for the most dangerous election cycle in our lifetime.

Please, chip in $3 today, or whatever you can afford, to help us meet our $1 million need by the end of October. I know we can climb this mountain together, if each of us does our small piece.

Yes, I'll do my part.

Thanks for all you do.

–Rahna Epting, MoveOn Executive Director

Dear MoveOn member,

 Dear MoveOn member,

In an interview on conservative radio last week, Donald Trump issued a breathtaking threat if he is indicted for stealing classified documents from the White House. He said, "I think you'd have problems in this country the likes of which perhaps we've never seen before. I don't think the people of the United States would stand for it."1

His rhetoric is eerily similar to his rallying calls in the lead-up to the January 6 white supremacist insurrection.

Lindsey Graham was even more explicit, saying that if Trump is prosecuted for his crimes, there would be "riots in the street."2

Trump and his cronies know exactly what they're doing. They know that they are putting out a call to the same white supremacist militias that perpetrated the violence on January 6, telling them to be prepared to do it again should the Justice Department—rightfully—charge Trump for any of his myriad crimes.

The GOP has made it clear: They believe that their side is above the law, and they are willing to advocate for violence if they are held accountable for their crimes.

And yet, they are a hair's breadth away from taking control of the House, Senate, and expanding their grip on governors' offices and statehouses around the country. We cannot let that happen.

That's why MoveOn is running the largest midterm election program in our 23-year history, investing millions of dollars into the exact races that will decide control of Congress and will stop MAGA extremists from holding an iron grip over state governments. Will you help power this critical work by chipping in $3 a week? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

Tiumothy, we know that you are getting inundated with asks for money right now, so we want to make sure you know why MoveOn is the right place to donate in this midterm fight.

  • We have the reach to make a difference. There are MoveOn members in every single congressional district in the country, which means that unlike many other organizations, we are able to mobilize and reach voters across the United States, helping to increase turnout precisely where it is needed most.
  • Every decision MoveOn makes is backed by data. In 2022, MoveOn is laser-focused on turning out what we are calling "surge voters," or those who voted for the first time in 2018 and 2020. To make sure we are as effective as we can be, our analytics teams are using highly detailed message testing to identify exactly which messages and specific ads will best engage the specific audiences we need to win.
  • MoveOn has targeted our work to be the most impactful. Instead of blanketing our work equally across every race, MoveOn has spent months identifying the specific candidates for Senate, House, governor, and secretary of state who will be on the front lines of defending our congressional majorities and stopping a MAGA extremist takeover in the states. By focusing all of our work on these races, we can have an even larger impact.

With our bodily autonomy, right to vote, health care, and future of our planet—just to name a few—at risk this election, we need your support more than ever. Can you chip in $3 a week to keep this work going, Tiumothy? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

Tiumothy, the Republican Party has turned into one giant shield whose only goal is to protect Donald Trump from the consequences of his actions.

They voted against his impeachment even when there was abundant evidence that he attempted to bribe the Ukrainian government to provide dirt on his political opponents.

They attempted to overthrow a free and fair election after Trump threw a hissy fit when he lost.

They voted against impeaching him—again—after he incited a riot that took the lives of at least five people on January 6, 2021.

And they are falling all over each other to pretend that he did nothing wrong by keeping highly classified documents in the basement of his beach house—even after they spent years vilifying Hillary Clinton for just the possibility that she had classified information on a private email server (she didn't).

This party has left sanity behind in order to support the dictatorial whims of Donald Trump, and we cannot let them hold the power to write laws, set agendas, and have control over our lives.

Will you help us run full speed ahead through Election Day by chipping in $3 a week? (MoveOn will bill your weekly donation to your credit card once a month starting today and will contact you shortly after the election to see if you want to modify or cancel your weekly donation.)

Count me in.

No, I'm sorry, I can't chip in weekly.

Thanks for all you do.

Take five minutes to use MoveOn’s free petition tool

Take five minutes to use MoveOn’s free petition tool to start a petition about an issue impacting your community!

Dear MoveOn member,

I’m Jensine, a young, queer Latina, a daughter of immigrants, and an organizer. I work on the MoveOn Petition Platform Team.

Growing up, I watched as my family and community experienced injustice after injustice. And I know I am not alone.

This is one of the many reasons why I’m so passionate about organizing and building community and power for our most vulnerable and systematically oppressed communities.

Tiumothy, you are an organizer, too. And petitions are a powerful tool to bring our communities together to fight for the change we wish to see.

The more than four years fighting back against Trump’s racism, sexism, misogyny, xenophobia, Islamophobia, homophobia, and transphobia were exhausting.

So, when a multiracial, multigenerational coalition of voters came together to elect a Democratic majority in the 2020 election, securing the White House, Senate, and House, I felt hope for the future.

It gave me more space to dream about what the world could look like: A world where everyone has a permanent roof over their heads, food in their fridge, access to clean drinking water, and access to free, quality health care. A world where people get paid a living wage, get to live free from white supremacy, and so much more.

Creating a world where everyone can thrive is possible when we come together and dream. And we don’t need to wait for elections to push for the change we want to see. We can do it now.

Thanks for all you do.

–Jensine, MoveOn Petition Platform Team

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump's preparations for being able to steal the presidency in 2024 are well underway and include working to replace top election officials in battleground states with his own loyalists. Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.

Dear MoveOn member,

 Dear MoveOn member,

Last week, the far-right Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, and in response to that, it is easy to fall into despair. But we want to tell you that there is still hope, and there are actions we can all take right now to help fight back.

MoveOn has been preparing for this for months, and we have built out a midterm election program that is laser-focused on the states and races that will have the biggest impact on alleviating the suffering which the loss of Roe has caused.

Today, we're asking you to donate $3 directly to the gubernatorial campaigns for Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Katie Hobbs in Arizona, Beto O'Rourke in Texas, and Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan. Please click here to chip in now. 100% of your donation will go directly to their campaigns.

Why these races?

All four of these states had trigger bans on the books, and in the three that currently have Republican governors (Arizona, Georgia, and Texas), abortion is now banned.

In Michigan, the only reason that abortion remains legal is because Governor Whitmer is personally leading the charge to fight against the law and stop it from being implemented.

And that is why we need to re-elect Gov. Whitmer and flip Arizona, Georgia, and Texas blue—so that the most powerful elected officials can use their power to stop these bans and ensure that reproductive rights in their states are protected.

Will you split a $3 donation between their campaigns today? 100% of your donation will go directly to their campaigns.

Stacey Abrams, Beto O'Rourke, and Katie Hobbs have all joined Governor Whitmer in committing to repealing the bans in their states and defending reproductive rights. If they lose, the consequences will be dire.

The Trump-endorsed GOP candidate for governor in Arizona has vowed to pass new laws in the state that would make abortion illegal even in the cases of rape, incest, or when continuing the pregnancy would cause the death of the pregnant person.1

In the moments after last Friday's decision, Georgia GOP candidate and current Governor Brian Kemp directed his office to work to immediately implement a previously blocked law banning all abortions in Georgia after six weeks, long before most people know they're pregnant.2

The current leader in the GOP primary in Michigan not only says she agrees with the state's trigger ban, but she has also spread baseless, dangerous conspiracy theories about Planned Parenthood and other reproductive health care providers.3

And in Texas, Greg Abbott cheered on the decision, celebrating the total ban on abortion beginning at conception, with no exception for rape or incest, which will go into effect across the state in the coming days.4

Without the protection of Roe at the federal level, it is absolutely essential that states have strong leaders who will fight to protect the right to bodily autonomy for the people of their states. This is one of the most concrete ways that we can fight back against the radical, pro-forced-birth agenda of the GOP.

Tiumothy, will you join us and chip in $3 right now to help elect Beto O'Rourke, Stacey Abrams, Katie Hobbs, and Gretchen Whitmer? 100% of your donation will go straight to their campaigns.

Thanks for all you do.

Dear MoveOn member,

 Dear MoveOn member,

Pride Month is just a few days away, and this year's celebration of community, solidarity, and the fight for equality could not come at a more important moment for our nation.

The MAGA GOP's attacks on our rights and our humanity have reached a fever pitch. "Don't Say Gay" is now the law in Florida and Alabama and being considered in at least 19 additional states.1 States are barring trans youth from receiving gender-affirming—and lifesaving—health care. And the GOP's all-out assault on reproductive freedom that will rip away access to abortion will open the door to rolling back marriage equality.

It is a frightening and uncertain time—and that is exactly how the Republicans behind these attacks want us to feel. They want to beat us down, divide us, and make us feel defeated.

But we've got bad news for them: Pride has always been a protest. We will never stop fighting fiercely for our rights and standing in solidarity with other marginalized communities.

To honor this moment, MoveOn is proud to announce the first items in our special-edition "Equality For All" Pride collection: a custom T-shirt (available in sizes 4XL-XS) and a beautiful enamel pin. Both are union-made right here in the United States.

Head to our store now to get yours! But hurry, these items are extremely limited and will sell out quickly!

The first Pride celebration took place in June of 1970, commemorating the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, a five-day-long rebellion led by trans women of color Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and others—particularly trans folks and people of color—fed up with the police violence and brutality they faced simply for being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

The uprising sparked a movement that later would lead to powerful AIDS activism, including the formation of groups like ACT UP, and to the global effort to fight for bodily autonomy and equal rights.

That fight is far from over, but together we will win.

Click here to order your "Equality For All" pin or shirt from MoveOn now. Every dollar you spend will go directly toward defeating bigoted GOP politicians, passing laws like the Equality Act, and stopping the attacks on our community.

Thanks for all you do.

–Kelly, Elizabeth, Amanda, Alexis, and the rest of the team

P.S. Keep your eyes on your inbox in the coming weeks as we'll be announcing more great merch in the collection soon!

Dear MoveOn member,

 Dear MoveOn member,

Child poverty will rise exponentially if Senate Democrats don't act this year to pass the full Build Back Better Act.

Call your senator, Sherrod Brown, at 888-894-1033 now to ask him to act ASAP to extend the child tax credit by passing the full Build Back Better Act.

Today is the last day expanded child tax credit payments will be delivered unless Senate Democrats do their part to ensure the Build Back Better Act passes this year. Almost 10 million children are at risk of falling below the poverty line if this emergency lifeline is not extended.1

The pandemic, stagnant wages, and generations of systemic racial and economic inequality have left millions of people unable to provide for themselves and their families during these challenging times. Senate Democrats must act now to secure this essential lifeline when people need it most.

Democrats have been negotiating this bill for months, and now we're up against a very tight deadline. If the Build Back Better Act does not pass by December 28, it's likely that the next child tax credit disbursement will be delayed, leaving millions of families in limbo.2

MoveOn members have been pivotal in the negotiations so far to keep Build Back Better as expansive as possible. Together, we've made tens of thousands of phone calls, had lobby visits with our elected officials, blanketed newspaper homepages with ads, and even brought a band to the Capitol to help progressives hold the line against immense pressure from corporations and the ultra-wealthy who do not want to pay their fair share. We know our actions have power, so we need to keep the pressure up.

Remind Sen. Brown at 888-894-1033 that we're counting on him to pass the full Build Back Better Act before the end of the year to ensure the child tax credit continues, the ultra-wealthy pay more of their fair share, and we make historic investments in our communities.

If all the Build Back Better Act did was keep kids out of poverty, it'd be worth it. But it would also combat climate change, lower the price of prescription drugs, expand access to education, create paid family leave, and so much more.

Tell Sen. Brown to act now and pass the full Build Back Better Act at 888-894-1033

Thanks for all you do.

Dear MoveOn member,

 Dear MoveOn member,

We'll get straight to the point. U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) supports the QAnon cult, has called deadly school shootings "false flag" operations by gun reform advocacy groups,1 and thinks Jewish space lasers are responsible for a wildfire in California.2 Yet somehow Representative Greene has secured a position on the House Committee on Education and Labor. This cannot stand.

Sign now: Tell Republican leaders to remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from the House Committee on Education and Labor!

Hundreds of posts, likes, and comments showing Rep. Greene inciting violence by spewing baseless conspiracy theories that have endangered the lives of many are resurfacing all over the internet. Rep. Greene is seen in one of these posts supporting the execution of prominent Democratic politicians.3 She is even seen on Capitol Hill, harassing Parkland student and activist David Hogg and other survivors of gun violence.4

Rep. Greene was recently assigned to the House Committee on Education and Labor by Republican leadership. This is unacceptable. In 2019, Republicans removed Representative Steve King of Iowa from the Judiciary and Agriculture Committees in response to his support for white nationalists.5 The same must be done to Rep. Greene.

Based on this precedent, her incitement of violence, and her egregious attacks on our democracy, Republican House leaders can and must remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee appointment.

Throughout history, we've seen white supremacy and far-right groups go unchecked for the violence and terror they have caused.  Most recently, Donald Trump was enabled and supported by Republicans for four years as he attacked our democracy over and over.

It's long overdue for the GOP to grow a spine. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's support for QAnon and her attacks against survivors of gun violence have no place in Congress. Her dangerous ideas have no place in Congress.

Add your name to this petition to demand that Republican leaders remove Rep. Greene from the House Committee on Education and Labor.

Thanks!
