 January 6 is our shame! This is what we produce? This shame? Why? Why, America? Why? You knew better! That day should not be lauded but mourned! This is your idea of freedom? Come on! Come on! What happened was nothing but shameful! We should be disgusted by their cruelty! The brave police saved us from such utter stupidity! Those riots are freedom? Excuse me while I laugh, or weep!

View in your browser     Biden announces $800 million in new aid after Zelensky plea President Biden on Wednesday announced new military assistance for Ukraine that will include anti-aircraft defenses, drones and other weaponry, offering fresh U.S. support in the wake of an urgent plea from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Biden announced $800 million in new assistance for Ukraine, which, paired with $200 million authorized over the weekend, brings the total new aid for the country to $1 billion over the past week. The new aid will help provide 800 anti-aircraft systems to combat Russian planes; 9,000 anti-armor systems to help destroy Russian tanks and armored vehicles; 7,000 small arms such as machine guns and shotguns; and a total of 20 million rounds that includes artillery and mortar.

Child poverty will rise exponentially if Senate Democrats don't act this year to pass the full Build Back Better Act. 

Call your senator, Sherrod Brown, at 888-894-1033 now to ask him to act ASAP to extend the child tax credit by passing the full Build Back Better Act. 

Today is the last day expanded child tax credit payments will be delivered unless Senate Democrats do their part to ensure the Build Back Better Act passes this year. Almost 10 million children are at risk of falling below the poverty line if this emergency lifeline is not extended.¹

The pandemic, stagnant wages, and generations of systemic racial and economic inequality have left millions of people unable to provide for themselves and their families during these challenging times. Senate Democrats must act now to secure this essential lifeline when people need it most. 

Democrats have been negotiating this bill for months, and now we're up against a very tight deadline. If the Build Back Better Act does not pass by December 28, it's likely that the next child tax credit disbursement will be delayed, leaving millions of families in limbo.² 

MoveOn members have been pivotal in the negotiations so far to keep Build Back Better as expansive as possible. Together, we've made tens of thousands of phone calls, had lobby visits with our elected officials, blanketed newspaper homepages with ads, and even brought a band to the Capitol to help progressives hold the line against immense pressure from corporations and the ultra-wealthy who do not want to pay their fair share. We know our actions have power, so we need to keep the pressure up.

Remind Sen. Brown at 888-894-1033 that we're counting on him to pass the full Build Back Better Act before the end of the year to ensure the child tax credit continues, the ultra-wealthy pay more of their fair share, and we make historic investments in our communities.

If all the Build Back Better Act did was keep kids out of poverty, it'd be worth it. But it would also combat climate change, lower the price of prescription drugs, expand access to education, create paid family leave, and so much more.
