She opens her mouth with wisdom

Greetings!

"She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the ways of her household..."
-Proverbs 31:26-27

Our mothers are our firsts in many ways...our first caretakers, our first teachers, our first friends, and our first encouragers. For those who grew up without their birth mothers, often it is a grandmother or aunt who stands in this important formative role. Godmothers and spiritual mothers also play a special role in passing along the faith and sharing in the role of watching over the family.

That is why we are offering a special novena of masses to honor and remember all of those who have been "mothers" to us. Our friend, Reverend Father David Cankene, a priest of the Archdiocese of Gulu, Northern Uganda, will celebrate a novena of masses for your intentions, beginning on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8th.

I invite you to use the link below to send me the names of your mother, grandmothers, aunts, inlaws, godmothers, spiritual mothers and other loved ones who have nurtured you throughout your life so that we may offer this Novena of Masses for their spiritual or temporal needs. In this way, we can truly honor those who have gifted us with life, whether biological or spiritual.

My prayer is that these masses will be a source of grace and blessing for all of the women in your life.

Thank you for joining us in this Novena of Masses.

With gratitude,
Johnnette and the Staff of Women of Grace

P.S. Should you desire to add a gift of support for these masses, you will receive as our gift links to the Women of Grace television series, "The Witness of Early Christian Women" with Mike Aquilina.

P.P.S. Also available are Gregorian Masses, and single Masses for your deceased loved ones or special intentions. These Masses are personally arranged by Monsignor Matthew Odong, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Gulu in Northern Uganda. If your mother has died, this would be a beautiful gift of remembrance.
Thank you for your support of our mission!

for mothers like Sally

Hi again Timor,

Here’s another reason I emailed you a few days ago ... for mothers like Sally. When Sally walked into the pregnancy medical center, her baby had less than 24 hours to live. I believe that breaks your heart because you have compassion for vulnerable mothers, like Sally, and their babies. Please read on!

Sally admitted through tears that she had an abortion planned for the next day.

“Everyone at home wants me to get an abortion. I feel lost and alone.”

Because of friends like you, Sally received a free ultrasound. That’s when something miraculous happened. Sally met her baby!

The sonogram revealed a 12-week-old baby. Sally took one look and said, “I’m going to cancel my abortion appointment.” Once she saw her healthy, growing baby, Sally CHOSE LIFE!

Timor, if you want to help change more hearts and minds like these, I invite you to become a monthly sustainer of the Option Ultrasound Life Advocate program. This fantastic community of monthly supporters believes in the sanctity of life, rescues babies from abortion, and ministers to their mothers.

Just $60 can save one baby from abortion! That means if you could save 6 babies each year with a $30 monthly gift or 12 babies with a $60 monthly gift. Your monthly donation will save lives and defend the sanctity of human life!

Some generous friends who value life provided a $4 Million Match that will help you save even more lives. Your first monthly gift will be DOUBLED to go TWICE AS FAR to rescue mothers and their babies from abortion. What an incredible opportunity! But please act now before this door closes.

To become a monthly Life Advocate and see your first gift DOUBLED, visit https://donate.FocusOnTheFamily.com/lifeadvocate5.

Blessings,

Robyn Chambers
Executive Director, Advocacy for Children
Focus on the Family

P.S. You can share the truth about life with other moms like Sally and rescue both mom and baby from the tragedy of abortion as a monthly Option Ultrasound Life Advocate.

shadow banning

shadow banning

or shadowbanning shad-oh ban-ing ]

Shadow banning is a practice used in online moderation that consists of preventing a user’s content from being seen by others—either partially or totally—without the user being notified or aware of it. This is typically done as a consequence of violating a platform’s rules.

The term shadow ban can be used as a verb meaning to ban a user in such a way and as a noun referring to such a ban. The adjective form is shadow banned. Similar terms such as ghost banstealth ban, and comment ban are sometimes used synonymously with shadow ban.

In contrast, traditional bans typically result in the banned user not being able to access their account at all.

Shadow banning instead allows the user to continue to use the site seemingly as normal. The user may not initially realize that they have been shadow banned until they notice a lack of interactions with the content that they post (because it is being hidden completely or displayed to fewer users).

The term shadow banning has been applied to moderation practices used by many popular online platforms, such as Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook. Some websites explicitly use the term shadow banning in their public rules.

The practice is often criticized due to its lack of transparency or for other reasons. Some critics accuse websites of using shadow banning to censor particular opinions or viewpoints.

Example: The site is known for shadow banning users that violate its rules, which it claims is easier and more effective than outright banning them.

The Queen of Versailles"

The 2012 documentary "The Queen of Versailles" is known for its over-the-top displays of jaw-dropping wealth, following the Siegel family as they aim to build the largest single-family residence in the United States: an 85,000-square-foot mansion in Windermere, Fla. At the time, there was a sense of schadenfreude online as the film showed the family's timeshare fortune take a tumble in the 2008 financial crisis and construction on the home ground to a halt. Now the "queen" of the manor, Jackie Siegel is back with a new reality series in which she shows off the ongoing renovations — including an imported British pub and an aviary with baby toucans. In an interview with The Post, Siegel talks about the inspiration behind her decision to go back in front of the cameras: Her daughter Victoria's overdose death, at age 18, in 2015 “We agreed to do the show because [it would] follow the house — and also our personal story, with our legacy of the loss of our daughter," Siegel said. Seven years later, Siegel still won’t let cleaners into Victoria's bedroom. To keep memories close, she maintains an altar in the house where she lights incense every day and prays for her daughter. “When Victoria died, it felt like my world fell apart, and all the money in the world could not bring her back,” Siegel told The Post. Read the whole interview below. We also take a look at Tina Brown's new book on the royal family, explore how opportunists got rich off the pandemic, and chat with Sarah Palin — running for office once again. Have a great Sunday.

Believe it or not… there’s a small company that might end up getting sued just for helping men have great s.e.x.

Why is that?

Well, it’s because this company recently introduced a simple, non-drug alternative to V_agra… and pharmaceutical companies are furious about it.

They’re so mad… they could soon file a major lawsuit just to keep this product off the market!

Crazily enough, men outside the US have been using this amazing solution for years -- with all the same results and none of the side effects of drugs like V_agra or C_alis.

Why haven’t you heard of it?

The makers of V_agra have spent millions of dollars to keep this out of American men’s hands… despite the fact it’s widely available in other countries…

And until recently, they’ve been successful.

But now, this remarkable formula is finally approved in select areas of the United States.

I say “select areas” because V_agra’s powerful lobbying groups are sadly still making this very hard to get in certain states.

You can see if it’s approved in your state by clicking here.

The lion and the unicorn

The lion and the unicorn
Were fighting for the crown
The lion beat the unicorn
All around the town.
Some gave them white bread,
And some gave them brown;
Some gave them plum cake
and drummed them out of town.[
And when he had beat him out,
He beat him in again;
He beat him three times over,
His power to maintain.[1]

"Jabberwocky"

 "Jabberwocky"

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Haddocks' Eyes

I'll tell thee everything I can:
     There's little to relate.
I saw an aged aged man,
     A-sitting on a gate.
"Who are you, aged man?" I said,
"And how is it you live?"
And his answer trickled through my head,
     Like water through a sieve.

He said "I look for butterflies
     That sleep among the wheat:
I make them into mutton-pies,
And sell them in the street.
I sell them unto men," he said,
     "Who sail on stormy seas;
And that's the way I get my bread –
     A trifle, if you please."

But I was thinking of a plan
     To dye one's whiskers green,
And always use so large a fan
That they could not be seen.
So, having no reply to give
To what the old man said,
I cried "Come, tell me how you live!"
And thumped him on the head.

His accents mild took up the tale:
He said "I go my ways,
And when I find a mountain-rill,
     I set it in a blaze;
And thence they make a stuff they call
     Rowlands' Macassar-Oil –
Yet twopence-halfpenny is all
They give me for my toil."

But I was thinking of a way
     To feed oneself on batter,
And so go on from day to day
     Getting a little fatter.
I shook him well from side to side,
     Until his face was blue:
"Come, tell me how you live," I cried,
"And what it is you do!"

He said "I hunt for haddocks' eyes
     Among the heather bright,
And work them into waistcoat-buttons
     In the silent night.
And these I do not sell for gold
     Or coin of silvery shine,
But for a copper halfpenny,
     And that will purchase nine.

"I sometimes dig for buttered rolls,
Or set limed twigs for crabs:
I sometimes search the grassy knolls
     For wheels of Hansom-cabs.
And that's the way" (he gave a wink)
"By which I get my wealth--
And very gladly will I drink
     Your Honour's noble health."

I heard him then, for I had just
     Completed my design
To keep the Menai bridge from rust
     By boiling it in wine.
I thanked him much for telling me
The way he got his wealth,
But chiefly for his wish that he
     Might drink my noble health.

And now, if e'er by chance I put
     My fingers into glue,
Or madly squeeze a right-hand foot
     Into a left-hand shoe,

Or if I drop upon my toe
     A very heavy weight,
I weep, for it reminds me so
Of that old man I used to know--
Whose look was mild, whose speech was slow
Whose hair was whiter than the snow,
Whose face was very like a crow,
With eyes, like cinders, all aglow,
Who seemed distracted with his woe,
Who rocked his body to and fro,
And muttered mumblingly and low,
As if his mouth were full of dough,
Who snorted like a buffalo--
That summer evening long ago,

     A-sitting on a gate.
