šŸ”This is not a (chicken) jokeā€¦

Dear morrison,

Can animals be victims of hate speech?

Yes, according to a recent article by two university academics in the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies. They invoked heavy-hitting ā€˜hate speechā€™ arguments to contend that what applies to humans must also apply to animals.

So why did the chicken cross the road?

Apparently to meet up with the radical activists who are jumping on this bandwagon to stop such ā€˜hate speechā€™ ā€“ and criminalise harmful stereotypes about chickens whoā€™ve flown the coop.

PETA, the radical animal rights group, says we must all stop using anti-animal language.

So instead of saying:      ā€œBring home the baconā€
You must say:               ā€œBring home the bagelsā€

And rather than say:      ā€œTake the bull by the hornsā€
You must say:               ā€œTake the flower by the thornsā€.

Yes, it sounds absurd, but ā€˜hate speechā€™ is one of todayā€™s most controversial legal issues.

Hate speech is defined as ā€œa direct attack against people on the basis of what we call protected characteristics: race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, religious affiliation, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity and serious diseaseā€.

But imagine if the word ā€œspeciesā€ was added to that list. All those cute cat videos would instantly vanish from YouTube for spreading ā€˜harmful stereotypesā€™. And David Attenboroughā€™s documentaries would be banned for invasion of privacy.

The absurdities are endless. But this is where you end up if you begin with a defective understanding of what it means to be a human being.

Itā€™s why this independent news platform will tackle both the serious and the absurd ā€“ always unpacking the truth for you.

Because what seems ā€˜absurdā€™ may be cloaking the real issues ā€“ like the need to uphold human dignity and boldly tell the truth in a ā€˜cancel cultureā€™ world thatā€™s hitting out at ā€˜hate speechā€™ and pushing people into self-censorship.

And itā€™s why Iā€™m asking for your support today to help more people see the truth and grow a wider influence to fight back against cancel culture and self-censorship.

Your gift today to help meet the $25,000 investment opportunity will help shine a light on fake news, by continuing to deliver relevant and insightful independent news to you and a growing community of truth-tellers

So thank you again for investing today to get the cultural analysis that will alert and equip you and many others to be a vibrant voice for human dignity.

Yours in truth-telling,
